Big Risks

Picture from: shockya.com

If you’re going to be successful, you have to take some big risks.

Lady Gaga has taken many risks. She is very different from any other singer. Not only is her music different from a lot of other artist but her clothes as well. She didn't let what other people get in the way of what she wanted to do. She took the risk of being different and ended up being successful.

In Raisin in the Sun Mama takes a big risk. She decides to take the insurance money and buy a house without telling her kids first. This showed that she really didn't care about the childrens opions because she knew what was best for the family. By taking this risk she made a better life with better living conditions for her family, which is what I would call success.

Parents are no longer responsible

Once children are grown, their parents are no longer responsible for them.

This picture is of Joan and Melissa Rivers from the show Joan and Melissa Rivers: Joan knows best. This television program shows that no matter how big your child gets or however successful they are parents almost always feel responsible for them. Melissa is grown with her own family, house, and job, but Joan moves in with her and still tries to take care of her.

In Raisin in the Sun Mama shows the same affection to her children. Walter Lee is grown with a job and his own family, but they still live with Mama. Throughout the whole play you see Mama taking care or talking about taking care of her family. Even though her children are grown she still takes care of them.

Hold on to your dreams.

You should hold onto your dreams; if you work hard enough for them, they will come true.
This picture is from an episode of Extreme Makeover:Home Edition. This family went through a lot and had one big dream. This brother and sister wanted to have a nice house to be able to raise their fellow siblings in after their parents passed away. With their parents not around anymore it gave them the chance to apply for the show. By holding on to this dream and applying for the show they eventually reached it and ended up with an amazing house.

In the play Raisin in the Sun the family also has dreams. The head of the family, Mama, has a dream of owning a garden and her own house. Like the picture above Mama and her children lost Big Walter. By this unfortunate event the family can reach the dream by using the insurance money to buy a house.
